Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how ThisOrThat collects, uses, stores and shares information when you use the ThisOrThat mobile application.

1. Who we are

ThisOrThat is a swipe-based dilemma and opinion app. For privacy questions or requests, contact dolevnaimdeveloper@gmail.com.

2. Information we collect

Guest identityWhen you use the app without registering, Firebase Authentication creates an anonymous user identifier so your votes can be saved and duplicate votes can be prevented.
Optional account informationIf you create an account, Firebase Authentication processes your email address and authentication credentials. ThisOrThat does not receive or store your password in readable form.
Votes and saved picksWe store the dilemma you answered, your selected option, the time of the response, a saved history copy, and the aggregate vote counters needed to show community results.
Optional demographicsIf you choose to provide them, we store your selected gender and age range with a vote so aggregated demographic result breakdowns can be produced. You can choose “Prefer not to say.”
Local app settingsYour language preference, optional demographic choices and local fallback/demo history may be stored on your device using local application storage.
Advertising and device dataGoogle Mobile Ads (AdMob) may automatically collect or share information such as IP address (which can indicate approximate location), app interactions, diagnostics, advertising/device identifiers and advertising data for advertising, analytics and fraud-prevention purposes.

3. How we use information

  • Provide the voting, results, history and account features.
  • Prevent the same Firebase identity from voting repeatedly on the same dilemma.
  • Calculate and display aggregate community percentages.
  • Generate demographic breakdowns when enough responses are available.
  • Operate, secure, debug and improve the app.
  • Display and measure advertising through AdMob.

4. Services and sharing

We use Google services that process data on our behalf or as independent service providers:

  • Firebase Authentication for anonymous and optional email/password identities.
  • Cloud Firestore for dilemmas, votes and saved-pick history.
  • Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) for banner and interstitial advertising.

We do not sell your email address, votes or optional demographic information. AdMob may collect and share advertising/device data as described above and under Google's own privacy terms. See Google Privacy Policy.

5. Starter estimates and community results

Some dilemmas may initially show a clearly labeled starter estimate until enough real votes are collected. Starter estimates are separate from real user vote counters and are not represented as actual community votes.

6. Data retention

Individual vote records and saved-pick history are kept while the related Firebase identity exists, unless deleted earlier. Local app data remains on your device until removed by the app, cleared through device settings or the app is uninstalled. Service providers may retain limited security, diagnostic or backup information under their own policies or where legally required.

7. Your choices and deletion rights

  • Providing gender and age range is optional.
  • You can switch the app language at any time.
  • You can use Android advertising/privacy controls to manage advertising identifiers and related choices.
  • You can delete your ThisOrThat account or guest data from Profile & settings → Privacy & data.
  • You can also use our account deletion webpage.
In-app deletion removes the Firebase account/guest identity, its individual vote documents, saved-pick history and locally stored optional demographic data. Vote totals are adjusted so the deleted identity's votes no longer contribute to the displayed counts.

8. Security

Data sent to Firebase and Google advertising services is transmitted using encrypted network connections provided by those services. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

9. Children

ThisOrThat is a general-audience app and is not specifically directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly request account information from children under the minimum age permitted by applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information inappropriately, contact us so we can review and delete it.

10. International processing

Firebase and Google advertising services may process information on servers outside your country. Their handling of information is governed by their applicable service terms and privacy safeguards.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app, legal requirements or third-party services change. The “Last updated” date at the top shows the latest revision.
